okay, I feel we should have some clarifications about some rules, that arent talked about explicitly in the translation.
Retire = Discard a character. Cards like Blaster Blader have this ability. The anime has shown that Retire = put into the drop zone.
Boost = During attack
The Vanguard does Triggers regardless if the opponent will take damage.
Combat flow is:
Vanguard attacks:
Declare attack (trigger ability) -> Would you like to boost? yes/no (Trigger abilities) -> Attack is Legal for damage? yes/no (trigger or activated ability) No, if Shield + Attack Power is greater than opponents current attack power or if an ability nullifying the attack. Yes if, not defended / condition for no were not met. -> Drive check (twin drive if character has twin drive), check for Triggers (draw, heal, stand, or critical), then damage check, check for triggers (draw, heal, stand, or critical.)
If combat was with a rearguard it will also be retired.
Rearguard attacks:
Declare attack (trigger ability) -> Would you like to boost? yes/no (Trigger abilities) -> Attack is Legal for retire? yes/no (trigger or activated ability) No, if Shield + Attack Power is greater than opponents current attack power or if an ability nullifying the attack. Yes if, not defended / condition for no were not met.
If attack was against a vanguard, opponent will damage check.
Basically the gist here is that whenever the vanguard would be attacked the owner of that vanguard character will do a damage check. If a rearguard is attacked no damage check will be performed. When a vanguard attacks the Drive / Twin drive will activate, if the vanguard attacks a rearguard in addition to damage check the rearguard will end up getting retired.
anybody else on here to clarify that i have this part of the game correct?
